Core Values

The CAA adopted and defined the following core values for the operation of its accreditation program:

Accountability

We accept responsibility for our actions and decisions, and recognize that we are accountable to the constituents we serve (the professions, programs, and public). We strive for efficiency in the CAA’s processes and procedures as one component of accountability. The Council communicates its findings and recommendations in a timely and understandable manner.

Fairness and Validity

We recognize the importance of acting in a fair and impartial manner. Basing actions and decisions on objective standards and procedures that are reasonable and well-founded helps to assure fairness and validity. The CAA regularly reviews these standards and procedures and seeks input from its constituencies as part of this review.

Clarity and Consistency

We understand that our constituents expect consistency and transparency in our actions and decisions. The interpretation and application of written standards and procedures fosters consistency among CAA members and from one program to another. We communicate our actions in a clear way that minimizes ambiguity.

Credibility

We have been entrusted to act on behalf of the professions and the public. It is important that our constituents view our actions and decisions as credible and trustworthy. We act with honesty and integrity in conducting CAA business.

Creativity and Innovation

We recognize and encourage creativity and innovation. We contribute to positive change in the professions by responding to input from all constituencies and encouraging new ideas and approaches. CAA actions and decisions allow for and encourage diverse program solutions for meeting standards.
