The CAA’s decisions of the accreditation status of graduate education programs in audiology and speech-language pathology are based on compliance with current standards—addressing administrative structure and governance, faculty, academic and clinical curriculum, students, assessment, and program resources. The CAA’s accreditation is sought voluntarily by education programs that offer clinical doctoral degrees in audiology or master’s degrees in speech-language pathology designed for graduates entering the professions. The CAA applies accreditation status classifications to each program that reflect CAA’s evaluation of the extent to which an education program complies with the Standards for Accreditation.
The CAA provides public notice of final accreditation decisions in accordance with its Policy on Public Notice of Accreditation Actions.

On August 23, 2022, Arizona State University reported to the CAA its intent to voluntarily withdraw the accreditation of the clinical doctoral program in audiology (AuD) due to the pending closure of this program. The program will maintain its current status (accredited) with the CAA until the program has closed, barring any interim decisions by the CAA or program, the withdrawal date will take effect on May 31, 2026.
